The electrolytic cell has a great influence on the electrochemical measurement, especially in the polarization of the potentiostat. The electrolytic cell constitutes the feedback loop of the operational amplifier in the potentiostat. The change of the parameters of the electrolytic cell has a great influence on the stability of the potentiostat. influences. According to different test requirements, electrolytic cells include conventional electrochemical cells, H-type electrochemical cells, corrosion electrochemical cells, photoelectrocatalytic electrochemical cells, in-situ characterization electrochemical cells, and flow electrochemical cells, etc.

Product Description

Conventional electrochemical cells include ordinary electrolytic cells, sealed electrolytic cells, traditional five-port electrolytic cells, and PTFE electrolytic cells. Ordinary electrolytic cells are generally used for basic teaching demonstrations or entry-level electrochemical tests. The entire system is not sealed, but is directly composed of working electrodes, counter electrodes, and reference electrodes, and is tested with a potentiostat.

The ordinary electrolytic cell is composed of a high borosilicate glass cell body and a PTFE cover. Three ordinary holes for electrodes are conventionally opened on the cover, and the electrodes are fixed and placed with fluorine rubber O-rings.If there is space on the cover, it will also be equipped with two small holes for inserting the PTFE tube for gas transmission. The solid T-type Teflon plug included in the accessory can also block the unused gas hole. Square holes can also be customized according to customer requirements or drawings. The lower glass tank body can also be customized into a double-jacketed glass type according to the temperature control requirements. It is connected to the outer tank body through the hose of a peristaltic pump or a circulating pump. The liquid circulates in the glass jacket layer.Relying on the exchange of cold and heat to achieve the effect of cooling or heating the electrolyte solution.

The volume of the electrolytic cell should be selected moderately. If the volume is too large, the amount of solution will be too much, which is unnecessary. During electrochemical measurement, the electrode surface undergoes oxidation and reduction reactions, and some substances in the solution are reduced by participating in the electrode reaction. At the same time, some reaction products will dissolve into the solution. If the volume of the electrolytic cell is too small, the solution concentration will change significantly during the long-term steady-state measurement, which will eventually affect the experimental results. In most cases, the volume of 50ml and 100ml are more choices. When the sample is large or more electrodes need to be inserted, larger volumes including 150ml, 200ml, 300ml and 500ml will also be frequently used.

The material of the electrolytic cell must have good stability. In general, high borosilicate glass is widely used to make electrolytic cells of various shapes because of its good chemical stability, wide use temperature, high transparency and processing performance. The electrolytic cell made of glass is very stable in most inorganic electrolyte solutions and organic electrolyte solutions. At the same time, considering the use requirements of some special electrolyte systems and special shapes, PTFE, plexiglass, PEEK materials and various types of metal materials can also be used as preparation materials for electrolytic cells.

NOTICE:

1.Three electrodes (working electrode, counter electrode, reference electrode) need to be purchased separately.

2.Considering that some users need ventilation and exhaust,we also open two small gas holes on the cover. If the gas hole is not needed, it can also be blocked with the solid T-plug provided.

Product Includes:
1 * PTFE lid
1 * chamber
10 * fluorine rubber O-ring

PRODUCT RELATED

Q.
How to choose ordinary electrochemical cell and sealed electrochemical cell?
A.
Regardless of the user's tightness requirements for the actual test, the sealed electrochemical cell is the first choice. The sealed electrolytic cell is equipped with hollow sealing screws and fluorine rubber O-rings to install and seal the entire device, and then pass inert gas into the cell body to drive out the excess gas inside the cell body to realize the test of the system in an inert environment. If there is no requirement for tightness, no ventilation operation is required. However, if you choose an ordinary electrochemical cell, the related operations of the sealed electrolytic cell cannot be realized.
Q.
What volume of electrochemical cell is suitable to choose?
A.
Q.
How to choose a working electrode?
A.
Common working electrodes include disk electrodes and replaceable electrode holders. The disk electrode is suitable as the base of the modified material, and it is modified to the base area of the disk electrode by mixing a membrane solution or the like with a powdered material. And if the material being studied is a sheet-like structure or the material can be modified to suitable materials such as conductive glass, carbon paper, carbon cloth, etc., it is more practical to choose a replaceable electrode clip.
Q.
How to choose a counter electrode?
A.
One of the important parameters of the counter electrode is its surface area. The counter electrode must have a large enough area to support the current conduction generated on the working electrode. Generally, the area of the counter electrode is 3-5 times the area of the working electrode. When choosing a disk electrode as the working electrode, platinum wire electrode is a good choice. When choosing sheet materials as working electrodes, platinum wire ring electrodes and platinum sheet electrodes are good choices.
Q.
How to choose a reference electrode?
A.
Generally speaking, calomel electrode or Ag/AgCl reference electrode is used in neutral system. Since the potential of calomel electrode changes greatly with temperature, when the temperature exceeds 70 degrees, it needs to be used with a salt bridge or replaced Use Ag/AgCl reference electrode. Hg2SO4 reference electrodes are generally suitable for sulfuric acid or sulfate systems. Hg/HgO reference electrodes are generally suitable for alkaline electrolyte solutions, of which the strong alkali system also needs to be used with a salt bridge, and the filling liquid in the salt bridge is consistent with the filling liquid of the reference electrode. The non-aqueous organic system needs to use a Ag/Ag+ reference electrode. When using a non-aqueous Ag/Ag+ reference electrode, the user needs to prepare a solution containing supporting electrolyte and silver ions (usually 10mM) and inject it into the reference electrode chamber. Due to shipping safety considerations, all reference electrodes are not filled with solution. Before use, the user needs to prepare an internal solution to fill it into the electrode.
